Bryan Blumenkopf

Bryan Blumenkopf is an Of Counsel attorney in Morrison & Foerster's Intellectual Property Litigation Group, specializing in patent litigation, patent strategy, and post-grant review. His practice focuses on advising clients on patent prosecution, post-grant review, and intellectual property strategy, leveraging his background in developing electronics and software systems. He handles complex technologies including optics, AI, mobile devices, audio systems, medical devices, wireless communications and networking, computer software, virtual reality, and interactive media.

In his litigation practice, Mr. Blumenkopf appears to primarily represent defendants, with one tracked appearance on the defendant side. A notable case includes his role on the Morrison & Foerster team that secured a complete defense victory for Insta360 in a Section 337 investigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), where GoPro sought to block the importation of Insta360's 360-degree cameras. The ITC cleared Insta360 of all five asserted utility patent claims, which related to camera technologies like stabilization, horizon leveling, and distortion correction. He also contributed to a trial team that achieved a complete verdict of non-infringement for a technology company in an $800 million litigation concerning content protection patents.

Mr. Blumenkopf is also actively involved in PTAB and IPR proceedings, regularly representing both patent owners and patent challengers in PTAB trials and ex parte reexamination proceedings as part of Morrison & Foerster's Post-Grant Strategy & Disputes practice.

He is admitted to the State Bar of California and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Blumenkopf earned his S.B. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.
