Azra Hadzimehmedovic

Azra Hadzimehmedovic is a Co-Managing Partner at Tensegrity Law Group LLP, focusing her practice on complex patent litigation across various forums, including U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Her expertise spans diverse technology areas such as computers, semiconductor devices, software, pharmaceuticals, Wi-Fi and location services, content delivery networks, and medical devices. This broad technical background is reinforced by her prior experience as a scientist and technical editor for the United States Pharmacopeia.

Ms. Hadzimehmedovic primarily represents plaintiffs in patent enforcement actions for industry-leading technology companies. Her tracked appearance as "of counsel" for the plaintiff in 10x Genomics, Inc. et al. v. Element Biosciences, Inc. reflects this emphasis, with the case involving next-generation sequencing technology. She has played a key role in several notable successes for 10x Genomics, including a $31 million jury verdict and permanent injunction against NanoString Technologies, and a $68 million settlement with Bruker Spatial Biology, Inc. She also contributed to securing an ITC Limited Exclusion Order against Bio-Rad Laboratories concerning gene sequencing technologies. While primarily plaintiff-oriented, she has also achieved significant results on the defense side, such as securing a major victory for Axonics against Medtronic in a multi-patent ITC dispute.

Her practice includes regular involvement in PTAB proceedings, where she has appeared as counsel for petitioners in inter partes reviews (IPRs), including for 10x Genomics and Axonics.

Ms. Hadzimehmedovic earned her J.D. from Berkeley Law in 2005 and a B.S. in Chemistry from Florida International University in 1997. She is admitted to practice in California (2005), the District of Columbia (2007), and Virginia (2019), and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and several U.S. District Courts. Prior to joining Tensegrity Law Group in 2011, she was a litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
