Ashley Finger

Ashley Finger is an Intellectual Property Litigation associate at Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C. Her practice focuses on patent litigation before federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Federal Circuit. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in matters spanning diverse technology areas.

Ms. Finger's experience includes cases involving semiconductors, medical devices, telecommunications, wireless communications, consumer electronics, and video encoding and decoding technologies. She has defended clients in high-stakes patent disputes, including Ford Motor Company in multi-district litigation related to wireless communications and Paramount in a significant multi-jurisdictional case brought by Nokia Technologies Oy concerning video coding patents. In the Nokia v. Paramount dispute, Nokia recently withdrew its claims against Paramount at the Unified Patent Court and in Munich after agreeing to a global RAND-rate setting in the UK. Ms. Finger also secured a favorable outcome for CertainTeed, where one patent was invalidated on indefiniteness and another resulted in a stipulated dismissal.

Her practice also includes involvement in PTAB proceedings, as demonstrated by her work for Ford Motor Company in a multi-district patent litigation that included PTAB actions.

Ms. Finger earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and holds a B.S. in Physics from Davidson College. She previously served as a law clerk to Judge Raymond T. Chen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
