Amanda Bonner

Amanda Streff Bonner is a Partner at Mayer Brown, focusing her practice on patent litigation and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). She possesses extensive experience across a range of technological areas, including electrical engineering, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Her expertise spans specific technologies such as mobile devices, semiconductors, LCD panels, telecommunications, and medical devices.

Ms. Bonner frequently represents operating companies in complex patent disputes. While her tracked case, Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. v. LG Display Co., Ltd., involves her representing defendant LG Display Co., Ltd. in patent infringement litigation, her IPR experience demonstrates a versatile approach. She has acted as counsel for both petitioners (challengers) and patent owners (defenders) in IPR proceedings, including representing LG Electronics, Inc. in multiple IPRs. Notably, she was part of the Mayer Brown team that secured a $112 million jury victory for Maxell in a patent infringement case against Samsung in May 2025.

Her PTAB experience is particularly robust, with involvement as counsel in over 175 IPR proceedings, earning her recognition as a "Top Attorney" in IPRs by Docket Navigator. In a significant PTAB matter related to the Tianma litigation, the USPTO Director denied institution of an IPR against her client, LG Display Co., Ltd., citing national security interests. Additionally, Ms. Bonner was part of the team that successfully defended pharmaceutical client Galderma S.A. in a PTAB showdown with Medytox Inc., a victory upheld by the Federal Circuit in June 2023.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Bonner externed for the Hon. Amy St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and gained appellate experience by arguing a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit during law school. She is admitted to practice, consistent with her role as a partner at a prominent Chicago-based firm.
