Alexandra F. Easley

Alexandra F. Easley is a highly experienced patent litigator with a focus on high-stakes intellectual property disputes, particularly involving standard-essential patents (SEPs) in telecommunications and multimedia technologies. Her practice primarily centers on asserting patent rights, evident from her track record of four plaintiff-side appearances compared to one defendant-side. She has significant experience in video coding standards, including H.264 and H.265.

Ms. Easley is currently a partner at Russ August & Kabat, specializing in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, including patent and trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, and antitrust matters. Before joining Russ August & Kabat, she was a principal in the Dallas office of McKool Smith, a firm well-recognized for its plaintiff-side patent litigation success.

Among her notable engagements, Ms. Easley served as lead counsel for Nokia Technologies Oy in a global patent dispute against Amazon.com, Inc. and related entities. This litigation, involving Nokia's video technologies used in Amazon's streaming services and Fire TV devices, concluded with a confidential licensing agreement following favorable rulings for Nokia in Germany and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). She also represented Nokia Technologies Oy in a multi-jurisdictional patent enforcement campaign against Hisense Co., Ltd. over H.264 and H.265 video decoding technologies, which was resolved through a multi-year patent license agreement where Hisense agreed to pay royalties.

Her practice extends to administrative proceedings and appeals, with experience in 13 inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, 10 ITC investigations, and 9 appeals before the Federal Circuit. She was also counsel in an appeal from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) to the Federal Circuit in Xerox Corp. v. Meta Platforms, Inc. Ms. Easley earned her J.D., cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2017, and holds an M.Ed. and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University (2010), having previously worked as a jury and trial consultant. She is admitted to practice in Texas.
