Company profile

Luminati Networks Ltd. — Company Profile

Overview. Luminati Networks Ltd. is an Israeli web-data infrastructure company founded in 2014 by Ofer Vilenski and Derry Shribman, originally as a spin-off of the peer-to-peer VPN service Hola. It is headquartered in Netanya, Israel (with a New York office). Since 2017 it has been privately held by London-based private equity firm EMK Capital, which reportedly acquired it in partnership with the founders at a valuation of roughly $200 million. In March 2021 the company rebranded as Bright Data; the Luminati name persists mainly in legacy contracts and litigation. Company materials report 450+ team members and 20,000+ customers; management stated it crossed $100 million in annual revenue in 2021 and reported ARR above $300 million in 2025. These figures are company-reported and not independently audited here.

Products / services. Luminati operates a commercial proxy and web-data collection platform. Its core offering is a residential proxy network built on peer-to-peer device bandwidth, supplemented by datacenter, ISP, and mobile proxy networks (reported at hundreds of millions of IPs). Adjacent products include automated web scrapers and a Web Scraper IDE, an "unblocker" for bot-protected sites, ready-made datasets, and retail/e-commerce data intelligence suites. Customers span e-commerce, market research, advertising, cybersecurity, and academic research.

Litigation posture. Luminati is an operating company, not a non-practicing entity. Its tracked appearances are limited: one plaintiff suit, Luminati Networks Ltd. v. BI Science (2009) Ltd., filed 2019-12-06 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, and one PTAB matter, Code200, UAB et al. v. Luminati Networks Ltd., filed 2020-09-04, where Luminati appears as patent owner responding to an inter partes review petition. The Eastern District of Texas filing is consistent with Luminati's broader practice of enforcing its proxy-architecture patents in that venue.

Context. The PTAB matter arose from Luminati's parallel E.D. Tex. patent campaign against the Oxylabs/Coretech group (Tesonet, Teso LT, Code200, Metacluster, Oxysales) and the GeoSurf service, which also involved trade-secret claims over former employees. Public reporting indicates a 2021 jury verdict that the asserted patents were valid and infringed, later appealed; the IPRs proceeded separately. The case cluster reflects protection of the company's residential-proxy patent portfolio rather than assertion of acquired patents against unrelated defendants.
