Helios Streaming, LLC is a Delaware-registered limited liability company with a stated place of business at 9880 Irvine Center Drive, Suite 200, Irvine, California. It was formed around 2018 and is a subsidiary of Ideahub, Inc., a South Korean patent monetization firm; Korea Patent Investment Corporation (KPIC) is disclosed as an investor. No public revenue, headcount, or ticker data is available — it is a private holding/licensing entity with no commercial operations.
Operations. Helios has no products or services. It acts as the exclusive licensing agent for a patent portfolio directed to adaptive HTTP streaming technology, specifically the MPEG-DASH standard (Media Presentation Description/BaseURL structures, buffering, and representation switching). The asserted patents originated with the Korean government research institute ETRI, were assigned or exclusively licensed to Ideahub in 2018, and were then exclusively licensed to Helios in August 2018. In February 2020 Helios also acquired nine US assets from SK Planet (a subsidiary of SK Telecom) covering digital content reproduction and video streaming.
Litigation posture.
