CommScope

Company overview. CommScope Holding Company, Inc. is a US communications-network infrastructure supplier founded in 1976, incorporated in Delaware in 2010 and public since its October 2013 IPO. Effective January 14, 2026 the parent renamed itself Vistance Networks, Inc. and its Nasdaq ticker changed from COMM to VISN; the "CommScope" name and brand were conveyed to Amphenol with the divestiture of the Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS) segment. Corporate headquarters are listed at 2601 Telecom Parkway, Richardson, Texas, with a long-standing manufacturing/administrative footprint in Hickory/Claremont, North Carolina. Historically it reported roughly 20,000 employees and about $4.2B of revenue (2024); after divesting its outdoor wireless, DAS and CCS businesses, FY2025 continuing-operations revenue was $1.93B and the company said it had repaid all outstanding debt with the ~$10.5B CCS sale proceeds (10-K, press releases).

Products / operations. It is an operating company, not an NPE. The remaining business has two segments: RUCKUS, selling enterprise and service-provider wireless networks — indoor/outdoor Wi-Fi and LTE access points, access and aggregation switches, IoT and cloud-based control/management software; and Aurora Networks (formerly Access Network Solutions), supplying cable modem termination systems (CMTS), DOCSIS 3.1/4.0 access gear, video infrastructure, and distribution/transmission equipment to cable and broadband operators. The divested CCS business made fiber-optic and copper cable and connectivity for telecom, data center and enterprise networks.

Patent-litigation posture. CommScope appears once in our tracked data, as plaintiff, with zero defendant appearances — the profile of a practicing company enforcing its own portfolio rather than a PAE. That case, CommScope Technologies LLC v. Clearfield, Inc., No. 0:17-cv-00307 (D. Minn., filed Jan. 31, 2017), was brought in the defendant's home district, not the Eastern District of Texas.

Notable case context. The Clearfield suit asserted 13 CommScope fiber-to-the-X (FTTx) patents against Clearfield cabinets, splitters, terminals and connectors; the parties settled in February 2018, with Clearfield paying $850,000, switching to redesigned products, and both sides withdrawing the related IPRs. Outside this tracked list, CommScope has also been a defendant in third-party patent suits (e.g., TQ Delta in E.D. Tex.).
