Smart Mobile sued Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. in W.D. Tex., Waco Division (filed July 1–2, 2021), asserting many of the same patents as the Apple case, including U.S. 8,472,937. The court denied a stay pending IPR alongside the Apple case, and Samsung pursued § 1404(a) transfer to N.D. Cal.
