Zentian Limited

Zentian Limited (also styled “Zentian Ltd.”) is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company no. 04054586), incorporated 17 August 2000, with its registered office at 27 Queens Close, St Ives, Cambridgeshire. It has filed only micro-entity accounts with UK Companies House (latest to 31 August 2025), which indicates a very small, low-cost operation; no employee count or revenue is publicly disclosed. Directors/controllers include founder Mark Catchpole and Guy Larri, both named inventors on its patents. It is privately held with no public ticker and no disclosed parent.

Products / operations. Zentian was founded as a speech-recognition hardware startup. Its engineers designed ASIC/FPGA-based accelerators for the acoustic stage of speech recognition (audio front end plus distance calculation) intended to cut power and speed up recognition on mobile devices, and by the mid-2000s had a working prototype paired with the Sphinx recognizer. Filings in its own litigation state that this work was largely unfunded, that the technology was pitched to Nuance, IBM, Samsung, Sensory, Qualcomm, Hutchison 3G and Apple, and that no licensing or sales resulted. On the public record it ships no products and earns no product revenue; it functions as a patent-holding and licensing entity — i.e., a non-practicing entity, though asserting patents it developed itself rather than an acquired portfolio.
