Technicolor Connected Home USA LLC is a Delaware limited liability company with its U.S. headquarters at 4855 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Suite 200, Norcross, Georgia; it previously operated from Indianapolis, Indiana. It is a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Vantiva SA (Euronext Paris: VANTI), the French group formerly named Technicolor SA, which the entity's own court disclosure statement identifies as its corporate parent. A Connecticut foreign-registration filing dated June 14, 2023 records a name change to Vantiva USA LLC. Parent-level figures, not subsidiary-specific: Vantiva reported roughly €2.9 billion in revenue for 2021 and about 4,550 employees in recent public profiles, with a market capitalization near €80 million in 2024.
The entity is the U.S. operating arm of Vantiva's Connected Home (customer premises equipment) division. It designs and supplies broadband modems and gateways (cable, xDSL, fiber), Wi-Fi gateways and extenders, and digital set-top boxes from standard- and high-definition through 4K/UHD and Android TV models, plus related software for Wi-Fi performance and smart-home/IoT applications. Disclosed customers have included Comcast, Charter, AT&T/DirecTV, Vodafone and Telefónica. FCC equipment authorizations in its name cover cable modems, transceivers and FM transmitters. It is an operating company with real hardware products, not a non-practicing entity.
Its litigation posture is purely defensive. Of the one tracked case, it is a defendant in one and a plaintiff in none — the profile of an operating company being attacked rather than a shell licensor asserting patents. CommWorks Solutions, LLC v. Technicolor Connected Home USA LLC et al., No. 1:22-cv-02827-SCJ, was filed July 18, 2022 in the Northern District of Georgia (the defendant's home district, not a plaintiff-favored venue such as the Eastern District of Texas). Co-defendant was affiliate Technicolor USA, Inc.
CommWorks is a non-practicing entity affiliated with Georgia-based IP Investments Group (later identified as Brainbox Innovations, LLC) that acquired Wi-Fi patents from Intellectual Ventures and has been targeted by Unified Patents ex parte reexamination challenges. The asserted patents (including Nos. 6,891,807; 7,177,285; 7,463,596; 7,911,979; 7,027,465; RE44,904) concern Wi-Fi Protected Setup and Wi-Fi Multimedia functionality, and the complaint accused dozens of Technicolor routers, gateways and access points. Technicolor answered on October 17, 2022; docket trackers now list the case as closed. Context: Technicolor sold its patent-licensing business to InterDigital in 2018, so patent assertion is not this entity's business.
