It is not publicly traded and does not disclose revenue or headcount; no parent company is identified in the sources reviewed. Its name appears in litigation records as both "Sol IP, LLC" and "Sol IP."

Operations. Sol IP does not make or sell products. It describes itself as holding an exclusive license to more than 600 patents and applications covering wireless telecommunications, and the asserted patents originate with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), a South Korean government-funded research institute in Daejeon. ETRI transferred all substantial rights in at least some of these patents to Sol IP, making Sol IP the party defending and enforcing them. The portfolio spans 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced (4G) standards (cell search, carrier aggregation, ACK/NACK transmission, MIMO) and WLAN/Wi-Fi technology. Notable cases. In December 2018 Sol IP filed parallel suits against AT&T Mobility, Sprint, and Verizon in E.D. Tex. over dozens of LTE and Wi-Fi patents; Ericsson and Nokia intervened, Ericsson filed a series of IPRs (IPR2020-00237 et seq.), and the cases were terminated in 2020. Later suits targeted Qualcomm (W.D. Tex., 2021), Ford (E.D. Tex., 2022, LTE-connected vehicles), and VinFast (C.D. Cal., 2024, not in the tracked list above). Most recently, on August 28, 2026, Sol IP filed separate E.D. Tex. complaints against Honda Motor and Volkswagen AG asserting two ETRI-originated MIMO patents (US 9,900,067 and US 10,090,894) over in-vehicle Wi-Fi. Outside the U.S., Sol IP has sued BYD in Germany and at the UPC (settled in 2025) and AGCO in Munich in 2026.
