Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc. (commonly "Par Pharmaceutical" or "Par") is a Delaware-incorporated generics manufacturer founded in 1978 as Par Pharmaceutical, Inc. and renamed Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc. in 2004. Originally based in Woodcliff Lake, N.J. and later Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., it was publicly traded before being taken private by TPG Capital in 2012 (~$1.9 billion) and then acquired by Endo International plc in a deal announced May 2015 and closed Sept. 28, 2015, valued at roughly $8.05 billion. Reporting at the time of the sale put Par at about $1.31 billion in 2014 revenue and roughly 1,600 employees. After Endo's 2022 bankruptcy and the 2025 Mallinckrodt–Endo combination, the legacy generics, sterile-injectables and API businesses were spun off as Par Health, Inc. (headquartered in St. Louis, over 4,000 global employees), which now carries the Par name.

Par develops, manufactures and markets generic and specialty pharmaceuticals, with an emphasis on high-barrier-to-entry and complex products. Its portfolio of roughly 95–100 products spans immediate- and extended-release oral solids (tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, capsules, powders), aseptic injectables marketed through Par Sterile, nasal sprays, ophthalmics and transdermal patches, plus niche branded products through Par Specialty. It maintained a pipeline of more than 200 ANDAs, many of them Paragraph IV opportunities.

Litigation posture: Par is an operating company, not an NPE.
