Fenwal, Inc.

Fenwal Inc. is a medical technology company, now operating as a subsidiary of Fresenius Kabi AG, which is part of the global healthcare group Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA. Headquartered in Lake Zurich, Illinois, Fenwal was acquired by Fresenius Kabi in a deal announced in July 2012 and completed in December 2012. At the time of the acquisition, Fenwal had approximately 4,900 employees and reported sales of $614 million for the 2011 fiscal year.

As a specialist in transfusion medicine, Fenwal develops, manufactures, and markets a wide range of products for the collection, separation, processing, and storage of blood and its components. Its product lines include automated blood and plasma collection systems, such as the Aurora Xi Plasmapheresis System, as well as centrifuges, leukoreduction filters, and blood-pack units used by blood centers, hospital blood banks, and plasma collection facilities worldwide. Fenwal’s patent litigation posture is that of an operating company defending its products in court.
