Consolidated Communication Enterprise Services, Inc. (styled "Consolidated Communications Enterprise Services, Inc." in most regulatory filings; commonly shortened to Consolidated Communications) is a subsidiary of Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. It is a Delaware entity incorporated in 2002 as the successor to Consolidated Communications Network Services, Inc., with principal offices at 2116 South 17th Street, Mattoon, Illinois — the same headquarters as its parent. The entity converted from a corporation to a Delaware LLC in January 2025 and was renamed Fidium Enterprise Services, LLC in September 2025.
The parent, founded in 1894 as the Mattoon Telephone Company, was a NASDAQ-listed company (ticker CNSL) with roughly 3,200–4,200 employees and about $1.1 billion in annual revenue. Searchlight Capital Partners and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation acquired the remaining ~65.7% stake for $4.70 per share, an enterprise value of about $3.1 billion; the deal closed in Q4 2024 (FCC approval December 9, 2024) and CNSL is now private. FCC filings list the holding company as Searchlight III CVL, LLC.
The entity operates as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and interexchange carrier (IXC), providing local exchange, exchange-access and long-distance services and enterprise/wholesale communications in numerous states, marketed under the Consolidated Communications and Fidium brands. It sold its Kansas City CLEC assets to Everfast Fiber Networks for about $82 million in November 2022.
