Yang-Hsien (Homer) Hsu

Yang-Hsien (Homer) Hsu is a patent litigation attorney at Perkins Coie, specializing in a broad spectrum of technology areas and intellectual property services. His practice encompasses strategic patent counseling, patent infringement and invalidation analysis, patent application support, and litigation. He has handled matters across diverse technical fields, including wireless communication standards (such as 5G), user interface technologies, display technologies, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, computer software, cloud computing, IoT, semiconductor processes, LED, LCD components, clean technology/renewable energy, and medical devices.

Mr. Hsu's experience demonstrates a focus on defending operating companies in patent infringement disputes. While tracked as "Backup Counsel" for OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. in a patent infringement case, the underlying litigation involved Pantech Wireless, LLC as the plaintiff, alleging infringement of wireless communication and 5G standard-essential patents, for which a jury found willful infringement against OnePlus. More recently, he was also a "practice attorney" on the Perkins Coie team that secured a defense verdict for AUO Corporation and Hisense Visual in a significant patent infringement case involving display technologies in the Eastern District of Texas. This verdict was notable as the first defense win for a Taiwanese company against an American company in a patent infringement case in that district's Marshall Division.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Mr. Hsu practiced as a patent attorney in Taiwan, advising Asian clients on patent infringement disputes, intellectual property transactions, and international investments. His experience extends to post-grant proceedings, as his firm profile indicates involvement in Inter Partes Review (IPR) matters.

Mr. Hsu holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law (2011), an M.S. from National Taiwan University (2001), and a B.S. from National Taiwan University (1999). He also completed a Law Study Program at National Taipei University (2004) and is admitted to practice in California.
