Wesley Hill: Professional Summary
As of April 30, 2026

J. Wesley "Wes" Hill is a highly experienced trial lawyer with a practice focused on patent infringement and other complex intellectual property litigation, primarily in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. For many years, he was a name partner at the Longview, Texas-based trial boutique Ward, Smith & Hill, PLLC. In late 2024, the firm was restructured as Miller Fair Henry, at which time Hill transitioned his practice to focus on mediation and trial consulting through his own firm, J. Wesley Hill, P.C.

The single tracked case, ContentNexus LLC v. JustWatch GMBH, where Hill appeared as local counsel for the plaintiff, is not representative of his broader practice. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Hill has been counsel of record in over 1,100 state and federal cases, with his work split nearly evenly between plaintiffs and defendants. His trial successes include securing multi-million dollar verdicts for plaintiffs as well as complete defense verdicts for clients, such as for Ralcorp Holdings and Medallion Foods in a patent and trade secret case brought by Frito-Lay. His practice has also encompassed trade secrets, trademarks, and other commercial disputes.

A former law clerk for Judge T. John Ward of the Eastern District of Texas, Hill is recognized for his deep familiarity with practice in that district, having served as chairman of its Local Rules Advisory Committee from 2009 until 2025. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Hill earned his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2001 and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
