Wasim K. Bleibel

Wasim K. Bleibel is a patent litigation attorney with a broad practice encompassing pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and software technologies. His experience includes patent infringement litigation arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act, as well as intellectual property strategy and regulatory matters before the Food and Drug Administration. He also handles cases for clients in the energy, beverage, and cosmetic sectors, and has a background as a senior research scientist.

Bleibel represents both patent owners and accused infringers, reflecting a balanced practice that spans both plaintiff and defendant sides of patent disputes. His past roles include serving as Lead Counsel for Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. in Autonavigare LLC v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., and as back-up counsel for Dell Technologies Inc. in Dell Technologies Inc. et al. v. Greenthread, LLC. He is currently a patent litigation attorney at Troutman Pepper, having previously practiced at Locke Lord LLP, Vinson & Elkins, and Paul Hastings.

He possesses significant experience in proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes reviews and reexamination proceedings. Notably, while at Locke Lord, he represented The Broad Institute, Inc., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard College in a significant patent interference proceeding concerning CRISPR-Cas9 systems, where the PTAB confirmed the validity of Broad's patents.

Mr. Bleibel earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2011, where he also received a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. He holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Michigan State University, awarded in 2003.
