Wasif Qureshi

Wasif Qureshi is the chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation group at Jackson Walker LLP, where he is a partner in the Houston office. His practice focuses on first-chair patent litigation, exclusively representing defendants in the two cases tracked. This defense-side focus is consistent with his broader practice, where he represents a range of clients from startups to Fortune 100 companies, often in complex, high-stakes patent disputes. Before joining Jackson Walker in 2016, Mr. Qureshi was a Principal at Fish & Richardson P.C.

With an educational background in electrical and computer engineering, Mr. Qureshi's practice covers a wide array of technology sectors. These include telecommunications, integrated circuits, semiconductor fabrication, computer hardware and software, and internet technologies. One of the matters listed, Almondnet, Inc. v. Roku, Inc., involved technology related to online advertising platforms. The other, Penumbra Inc v. Rapidpulse Inc, concerned medical devices, specifically thrombectomy systems for removing blood clots.

Mr. Qureshi has experience in both district court litigation and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). In one notable outcome, he served as lead counsel for Roku, securing a complete defense victory in a Waco, Texas jury trial where the plaintiff sought $228 million in damages for alleged patent infringement. He has also represented clients in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. Filings in the Penumbra v. Rapidpulse matter show his firm's involvement in a successful IPR petition that invalidated the asserted patent, a decision later affirmed by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Qureshi earned his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with honors, and his J.D. from the University of Houston. He was licensed to practice in Texas in 2005 and is also registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
