Vivek Ganti

Vivek Ganti is an intellectual property professional with significant experience in patent litigation, particularly involving electrical engineering and computer arts. His practice has historically encompassed both representing patent owners and defending against patent infringement allegations.

During his tenure at Hill, Kertscher & Wharton, LLP, Mr. Ganti's patent litigation experience included one appearance on the plaintiff side and two on the defendant side, as tracked in his case history. He served as lead counsel in these matters.

A notable aspect of Mr. Ganti's practice is his involvement in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. He has been recognized for his significant IPR expertise, taking a lead role in preparing and evaluating claim charts, working with experts, and drafting petitions for IPRs involving electrical engineering and computer arts. He acted as lead counsel for the patent owner, MPHJ Technology Investments, LLC, in IPR proceedings that led to a Federal Circuit appeal. In MPHJ Technology Investments, LLC v. Ricoh Americas Corporation et al., the Federal Circuit affirmed the Patent Trial and Appeal Board's (PTAB) decision, finding claims of U.S. Patent No. 8,488,173 invalid for anticipation or obviousness.

Mr. Ganti earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of California on February 24, 2011. Prior to his legal career, he worked as an engineer at Intel. Currently, he serves as Director, Global IP Protection at Applied Materials, having previously held the position of Patent Counsel at Leia Inc.
