Travis Wimberly

Travis Wimberly is an intellectual property litigator at Pirkey Barber PLLC, where his practice primarily focuses on trademark and copyright law. While his firm specializes in trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law, not patents, Mr. Wimberly frequently serves as experienced local counsel in Texas federal courts, assisting primary counsel in patent, trade secret, and other non-IP disputes. His tracked patent litigation experience includes one appearance on the defendant side in an untitled case, acting in a local counsel capacity.

A seasoned first-chair trial lawyer, Mr. Wimberly was named Litigator of the Year (Texas) by Managing Intellectual Property in 2022. He has led multiple trial teams to successful verdicts or judgments and has argued before U.S. Courts of Appeals and U.S. District Courts across the country. His experience extends to authoring winning briefs at all levels of the federal court system, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Before joining Pirkey Barber, Mr. Wimberly spent four years at Vinson & Elkins LLP. While he represents clients in contentious and non-contentious matters before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, this primarily pertains to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) for trademark and copyright issues, rather than patent-specific IPR or PGR proceedings.

Mr. Wimberly earned his J.D., with high honors, from The University of Texas School of Law in 2010, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, among other federal district courts.
