Timothy A. Lindquist

Timothy A. Lindquist is a founding partner at Carlson, Caspers, Vandenburgh & Lindquist, where he specializes in patent law and dedicates the majority of his practice to handling patent disputes. His experience spans all phases of patent litigation in Federal District Courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, alongside involvement in alternative dispute resolution forums such as mediation and arbitration. Lindquist also advises clients on potential patent disputes, conducts infringement and validity studies, and aids in developing patent portfolio business plans.

Lindquist's practice areas cover a broad range of technologies, including mechanical and optical arts, polymers, chemicals, software, and pharmaceuticals. Specifically, he handles matters involving complex algorithms, user interfaces, open-source code, financial services, and wireless software. Lindquist earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1990 and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois, following a B.A. from Wheaton College. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Minnesota Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. Prior to private practice, he clerked for the Honorable S. Jay Plager at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
