Taylor Gooch

Taylor Gooch is a Partner in Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, focusing on complex and high-stakes patent and intellectual property disputes. His practice encompasses a broad range of technologies, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications, digital media, video streaming, computer graphics, motion capture, solid-state memory, life science technologies, and consumer products such as shapewear. He represents clients across industries including microprocessor, video, cable, life sciences, and fashion.

Gooch primarily represents defendants, ranging from small startups to Fortune 50 companies, in patent litigation matters. His experience includes appearances in US district courts, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US International Trade Commission. The firm's recent notable outcomes include a complete defense verdict for Netflix in a patent infringement trial in the US District Court for the Central District of California in March 2026.

He is also actively involved in post-grant proceedings, having counseled clients and assisted with matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. Prior to his tenure at WilmerHale, Gooch was an associate at Keker, Van Nest and Peters, where he also handled patent claims.

Gooch earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2013, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He holds a B.S. in Biology and History, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Oregon (2010). He is admitted to practice in California and previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Sharon Prost of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Honorable Richard Andrews of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
