Susan Y. Tull

Susan Y. Tull is an accomplished intellectual property trial lawyer at Russ August & Kabat, specializing in patent and trade secret disputes. Her practice encompasses a wide array of technologies, including mechanical, industrial, computer science, electrical, and medical devices.

Ms. Tull demonstrates a balanced litigation practice, representing both patent owners and defendants. While her current tracked cases, Intent IQ, LLC v. MNTN, Inc. and Intent IQ, LLC v. Adform, Inc., are on the plaintiff side for a patent-holding ad tech company, her experience also includes significant defense work for operating companies. During her tenure at Latham & Watkins, she played a role in multiple successful outcomes, such as a $199 million settlement for J&J Surgical Vision against Alcon, a victory before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) for Netgear against TP-Link, and a favorable settlement for defendant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing against Daedalus in the ITC. She also contributed to successfully defending The Chamberlain Group LLC against a patent infringement action filed by The Overhead Door Corporation.

Her experience extends to representing clients in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Notably, she represented Peloton in both offensive patent litigations and defensive Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) concerning leaderboard technology, which settled favorably following claim construction and IPR decisions. She also handled defensive ex parte reexaminations for Koninklijke Philips involving defibrillator waveform technology and IPR proceedings for Elekta related to radiotherapy systems.

Ms. Tull earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Art History from Duke University.
