Sierra Weingartner

Sierra Weingartner is a patent litigation attorney at Alston & Bird, where she focuses on a range of intellectual property disputes, including patent, trade secret, and trademark litigation. Her technical background includes a B.A. in biological sciences from Wellesley College and undergraduate research in bioengineering at MIT. This foundation supports her work across diverse technologies, from smart home ecosystems and telecommunications, as seen in the IoT Innovations LLC v. Snap One, LLC case, to mechanical devices like those involved in Dead Air Armament, LLC v. Jarvis Arms LLC. Weingartner demonstrates experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement matters, with an equal number of tracked appearances on each side.

At Alston & Bird, Ms. Weingartner has been involved in significant patent litigation. As lead counsel for the plaintiff in Dead Air Armament, LLC d/b/a Dead Air Silencers v. Jarvis Arms LLC d/b/a Mission Silencers, she is litigating a dispute concerning firearms accessories. She also served as Of Counsel for the defendant in IoT Innovations LLC v. Snap One, LLC, a case involving Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and smart home technology, where the plaintiff is identified as a non-practicing entity.

Her practice includes experience with post-grant review proceedings, as evidenced by an instituted Inter Partes Review (IPR2026-00013) associated with the Dead Air Armament case. Alston & Bird's IP litigation group regularly handles IPR and Post-Grant Review (PGR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Ms. Weingartner is admitted to the North Carolina Bar and practices in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2022.
