Sherry (Hanhui) Li

Sherry (Hanhui) Li is an of counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner. Her patent litigation practice leverages a technical background in computer science and engineering to focus on complex disputes involving artificial intelligence (AI), software, semiconductors, batteries, and medical devices. Prior to her legal career, Li was a software engineer at a multinational information technology corporation.

Based on tracked appearances, Li has represented clients on the defense side. In her role for the defendant in WirelessWerx IP LLC v. Audi Of America LLC, Li was part of the team that persuaded the court to invalidate the asserted patent on geofencing technology under 35 U.S.C. § 101, resulting in a dismissal with prejudice.

In addition to her district court practice, Li has experience assisting clients in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). She has also co-authored analysis on Federal Circuit appeals originating from the PTAB.

Li earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a recipient of the Quadrangle Scholar Research Award Scholarship. It appears she was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in late 2025.
