Specialty / focus. Sarita Venkat's tracked docket is almost entirely software- and networking-focused patent litigation on behalf of Cisco: network security (firewalls, threat-intelligence-driven packet filtering), routing/switching and SDN, Ethernet ring protection switching (ITU-T G.8032), and optical transport (ROADM/WDM ring networks). She also has life-sciences exposure from earlier in-house roles, but the tracked cases are uniformly high-tech. Her public profile (ChIPs, Concurrences, Sedona Conference) describes her current remit as IP, commercial, and antitrust litigation, consistent with that docket.

Side preference. Six of her eight tracked appearances are defendant-side, defending Cisco as an operating company against NPE/competitor assertions (Optimnet, Centripetal, Velocity Communications, Palo Alto Networks-related proceedings).
