Sarah Mae Anderson

Sarah Mae Anderson is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice at Perkins Coie, where her work focuses on patent litigation. Her practice areas primarily involve technologies such as secure cloud storage, distribution and aggregation, and network firewall services, reflecting a foundation in software and mechanical engineering given her academic background.

Ms. Anderson has experience representing operating companies, appearing on the plaintiff side in patent infringement actions. Notably, she served as counsel for Netskope, Inc. in the ongoing patent dispute, Netskope, Inc. v. Fortinet, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Her firm, Perkins Coie, also represented Netskope in related post-grant proceedings and appeals. This included an inter partes review (IPR2023-00030), where all challenged claims of Netskope's patent were invalidated. Additionally, Perkins Coie defended Netskope in Federal Circuit appeals (Case Nos. 25-1085 and 24-2192) brought by Fortinet, Inc. challenging the patentability of Netskope's cloud security patents. These appeals were voluntarily dismissed, often suggesting a resolution was reached between the parties.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Anderson spent six years as an engineer at L3Harris Technologies, Inc. She earned her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2024 and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University, awarded in 2016.
