Salvatore Tamburo

Salvatore Tamburo is a seasoned patent litigator at DLA Piper, with over 27 years of experience focused on complex intellectual property disputes. His practice emphasizes electrical, mechanical, and software-related technologies. Mr. Tamburo handles a broad spectrum of technical areas, including Wi-Fi and cellular communications, high-performance computing, semiconductor products and fabrication, graphical user interface technologies, DRAM and NAND memory devices, network security systems, and various medical devices.

His experience primarily involves defending accused infringers, as evidenced by his role as counsel of record for the defendant in Maxell, Ltd. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al.. He also represented Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. as petitioners in an Inter Partes Review (IPR) related to a Maxell patent.

Mr. Tamburo has significant experience representing clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in both inter partes reviews and reexaminations. He has also appeared in various U.S. district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He earned his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1998 and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, New York, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
