Saina S. Shamilov

Saina S. Shamilov is a highly experienced patent litigation attorney, specializing in representing leading technology companies in high-stakes intellectual property disputes. Her practice primarily focuses on defending operating companies, as evidenced by her appearing as defendant's counsel in 11 out of 12 tracked cases. Shamilov has expertise across a broad range of technological fields, including AI, cloud computing, machine learning, natural language processing, gaming, networking and telecommunications, e-commerce, internet-related technologies, CRM systems, and database management, with additional experience in the beauty and fashion sectors.

Currently a Partner at Fenwick & West LLP, Shamilov co-leads the firm's patent litigation group. She has built a notable record of securing favorable outcomes for her clients. Significant representations include obtaining a full defense verdict for Amazon in the Eastern District of Texas against Virginia Innovation Sciences, where a jury found no infringement and invalidated the asserted patents. She also successfully defended Amazon against the same entity in the Eastern District of Virginia, securing a Federal Circuit-affirmed ruling that eight patents were ineligible under § 101. Additionally, Shamilov led the team that obtained findings of infringement in a Section 337 Investigation at the ITC for beauty technology company Lashify and subsequently secured a $30.5 million jury verdict in related patent infringement litigation. Her work for Lashify also resulted in a Federal Circuit victory that expanded small business access to the ITC by clarifying domestic industry requirements.

Shamilov is recognized for her extensive experience in PTAB proceedings, having been consecutively named to the PTAB Bar Association's Top 50 Women in PTAB Trials list. She is admitted to practice in California and is registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Shamilov earned her J.D., with a High Tech Law Certificate, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2001, and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis.
