S. Wallace Dunwoody

S. Wallace Dunwoody is a Partner in the complex litigation/dispute resolution group at Munck Wilson Mandala, where his practice focuses on commercial and intellectual property disputes, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. With over 20 years of experience, he represents clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and appeals. His patent litigation experience spans a wide variety of technologies, including electrical-mechanical systems, computer hardware and software, and life sciences. Dunwoody has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in over 40 patent cases. His defendant-side engagements include defending Southwest Airlines Co. in cases such as Intellectual Ventures I LLC et al. v. Southwest Airlines Co. and Intellectual Ventures II LLC et al. v. Southwest Airlines Co., and he has successfully obtained injunctions against unauthorized data scraping for a major airline. Noteworthy outcomes in his career include winning a $10 million patent verdict in the Northern District of Texas for a case involving motion detection devices and securing a defense verdict of no infringement for a manufacturer of tactical fiber optic connectors in the Eastern District of Texas. He also achieved favorable settlements for a vending machine manufacturer in a patent infringement suit.

Dunwoody possesses experience in post-grant proceedings, having successfully invalidated asserted patents through Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings at the Patent Office in one case after defeating a motion for preliminary injunction.
