Robert R. Laurenzi

Robert R. Laurenzi is an Of Counsel in the Intellectual Property practice at Paul Hastings, based in the firm's New York office. He has also previously been associated with Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.

Mr. Laurenzi's practice primarily focuses on patent litigation involving computer, internet, and telecommunications technologies. His technical background includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and prior experience as a telecommunications engineer, with early research in neural networks and artificial intelligence applications to signal processing. He predominantly represents defendants, with all four of his tracked appearances being on the defense side. This includes representing Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. in cases such as Telcom Ventures LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al. Before his firm practice, Mr. Laurenzi worked in-house at Verizon, where he negotiated and drafted software licenses and technology agreements.

He is a registered patent lawyer admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has served as lead counsel on multiple Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) and Covered Business Method (CBM) reviews. His experience also encompasses patent prosecution, managing large patent portfolios, and counseling clients on intellectual property due diligence and merger and acquisition matters.

Mr. Laurenzi earned his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1999 and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Temple University in 1993. He is admitted to the Pennsylvania and New York Bars.
