Robert Hill

Robert S. Hill is a distinguished intellectual property attorney at Holland & Knight, based in their Dallas office, where he focuses his practice on complex patent litigation. He handles a diverse array of technology areas, including artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, image processing software, wireless communications technology, enterprise communication systems, 3D display devices, FinTech platforms, cryptography systems, pharmaceutical products, and biotechnology products. Hill also possesses extensive experience litigating Hatch-Waxman cases, representing innovator pharmaceutical companies. He is actively involved in emerging technologies, serving as a member of Holland & Knight's 5G Technology Initiative and Quantum Computing Initiative, and leads the firm's Digital Healthcare practice.

Hill's practice involves representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent disputes. While his tracked appearances include leading plaintiff-side representation in Dell Technologies, Inc. et al. v. 3D Surfaces, LLC, his broader experience at Holland & Knight demonstrates a balanced approach to litigation. He has achieved notable outcomes, including co-leading the defense that secured a dismissal at the pleading stage in a $7.8 billion trade secret misappropriation claim. He also represented clients in a patent case, Green Revolution Cooling v. Riot Platforms et al., where a federal jury cleared Riot Platforms.

Beyond district and appellate court litigation, Mr. Hill also represents clients before the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), with cases such as Arrows Up LLC v. Oren Technologies LLC (PTAB) listed among his representative experience.

Mr. Hill earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology, and holds an A.B. degree in biology from Harvard University.
