Rhett D. Ramsey

Rhett D. Ramsey is an intellectual property litigator at Knobbe Martens, focusing on patent and trade secret disputes across various U.S. District Courts. The jury declined to award over $12 million in lost profits and rejected claims of willful infringement, instead awarding a reasonable royalty of $785,000. He also represented Yondr, Inc. in patent litigation involving phone-pouch technology, including Win Elements LLC v. Yondr, Inc., which saw a dismissal with prejudice of declaratory judgment claims and a final judgment of validity for Yondr's patent.

Mr. Ramsey actively participates in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), representing both patent owners and patent challengers. He served as counsel for Patent Owner Yondr, Inc. in IPR2025-00970 and PGR2025-00070, both concerning patents on systems for limiting mobile device use, where the petitions for review were discretionarily denied. Additionally, he was counsel for Fresh Products LLC in district court litigation, which involved a related IPR (IPR2025-01366) against Sanastar Inc. that also resulted in a discretionary denial. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 2022, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from Utah State University in 2017.
