Ramsey M. Al-Salam

Ramsey M. Al-Salam is a highly experienced patent litigator with over 35 years of practice, currently serving as a partner at Perkins Coie LLP. His career also includes experience at K&L Gates (previously Bogle & Gates) and Lyon & Lyon. Mr. Al-Salam’s practice focuses on intellectual property and technology-related disputes, with particular strength in patent litigation. He has substantial experience with technologies such as computer, networking, radio frequency identification (RFID), hardware, and software, and has also handled matters involving medical technology.

Throughout his career, Mr. Al-Salam has demonstrated versatility by representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent cases. His tracked appearances reflect an equal balance, with four cases on the plaintiff side and four on the defendant side. He is noted for leading litigation and trial teams for diverse clients, from large corporations to smaller entities, across the country.

Notable case work includes serving as lead trial counsel for Impinj, Inc. in patent litigation involving RFID integrated circuits, where he secured a jury verdict of infringement and a full damages award for his client. He has also appeared in significant matters such as Inari Medical, Inc. v. Imperative Care, Inc. et al. and CaptION Health Inc. v. University of British Columbia. Mr. Al-Salam is also experienced in post-grant proceedings, as evidenced by his appearance in Unified Patents PTAB Data v. Inari Medical Inc..

Mr. Al-Salam earned his J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law (formerly Boalt Hall) in 1983 and a B.A. in Mathematics/Economics, with highest honors, from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1980. He is admitted to practice in Washington and California, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and various U.S. District Courts.
