Paul Andre

Paul Andre is a highly experienced patent litigator focusing on intellectual property disputes involving complex technology across various sectors, including life sciences, computer science, and electrical arts. His practice areas have encompassed cybersecurity, telecommunications (including Mobile Edge Computing and Network Functions Virtualization), interactive gaming and sports betting, and semiconductor/optics technologies. Andre represents both patent owners in enforcement actions and companies defending against infringement allegations, though his tracked cases show a primary focus on plaintiff-side representation.

Andre is currently the managing partner of the Silicon Valley office and co-chair of the Intellectual Property practice at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (US) LLP. He was previously with Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, where he launched the Silicon Valley office in 2011, before the firm merged with Herbert Smith Freehills in 2025 to form Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer. In 2023, his motion for pro hac vice admission to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) was denied, citing prior sanctions from a district court judge related to "vitriolic and unsubstantiated" allegations made against opposing counsel. Andre was admitted to the State Bar of California on September 29, 1998, and earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
