Patrick Strawbridge

Patrick Strawbridge is a Partner at Consovoy McCarthy PLLC, where his practice includes appellate litigation with experience at the U.S. Supreme Court. While Consovoy McCarthy is known for its broader litigation and appellate work, including constitutional law and complex commercial disputes, Mr. Strawbridge has specifically engaged in patent litigation matters, particularly concerning appeals related to inter partes review (IPR) proceedings.

In his tracked patent-related appearance, Mr. Strawbridge represented Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation as the petitioner in Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corp. v. Unified Patents, LLC before the U.S. Supreme Court. This case involved critical questions of Article III standing and the identification of real parties in interest in IPR proceedings, demonstrating his involvement in the appellate stage of patent validity challenges. Although the Supreme Court denied certiorari in this matter in June 2026, his role highlights an emphasis on representing patent owners in efforts to enforce their rights and challenge IPR outcomes. His experience aligns with a preference for representing the plaintiff/patent owner side in litigation.

Prior to joining Consovoy McCarthy, Mr. Strawbridge held partner positions at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and Bingham McCutchen LLP, and was an associate at Preti Flaherty. His career includes serving as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Judge Morris Sheppard Arnold of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and Justice Howard Dana of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine.

Mr. Strawbridge is admitted to the bars of Maine and Massachusetts. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Creighton University School of Law and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri.
