Specialty & background

Patrick Colsher is a highly experienced patent litigator focusing on intellectual property and complex commercial disputes, with a technical background in electrical and biomedical engineering. He handles a broad range of high-stakes patent, trade secret, and other IP cases in federal courts across the country, as well as Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission (ITC). His practice spans diverse technology areas including elliptic curve cryptography for blockchain/cryptocurrency applications, call center technology, dynamically-generated applet technology, semiconductor technology, and LED manufacturing. While his tracked appearances include representation of a patent monetization firm (Malikie Innovations Limited), his practice is balanced, representing both petitioners and patent owners.

Currently a Partner at Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP (RJLF), Mr. Colsher joined the firm in April 2023. Prior to RJLF, he served as Counsel and Senior Associate in IP Litigation at Shearman & Sterling LLP from 2015 to 2023, and held associate roles at Kenyon & Kenyon LLP and Ward & Zinna, and was a Scientific Advisor at Ward & Olivo. Notable case outcomes include securing a pre-institution stay in district court proceedings for Nichia amidst related IPRs, achieving dismissal on Section 101 grounds for Bright Pattern in a call center technology dispute, and obtaining summary judgment of non-infringement for Victoria's Secret, which was affirmed by the Federal Circuit. He also secured a voluntary dismissal for DENSO in a semiconductor technology case after demonstrating non-infringement.

Mr. Colsher possesses extensive experience in post-grant and inter partes review (IPR) trials before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, having handled nearly 100 such trials. In 2025, he achieved a perfect record across more than 20 PTAB proceedings, successfully defending patent owners by having petitions denied and, for petitioners, securing institution and unpatentability findings in final written decisions. He is a Registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice in California, New York, and New Jersey. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, and holds B.S.E. degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.
