Olivia M. Kim

Olivia M. Kim is a patent litigation attorney with a practice focused on complex intellectual property disputes for technology and life sciences companies. She currently serves as a partner at Alston & Bird, having joined the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Group in Los Angeles in October 2024. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Ms. Kim was with Irell & Manella, where her tracked experience includes serving as lead counsel for the defendant in RFC Lenders of Texas, LLC v. Verizon Connect Inc.

Ms. Kim's technological proficiency spans a broad range of areas, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, clinical testing, medical devices, biometric sensors, internet payment systems, mobile phone systems, network security, computer hardware, software, and plasma display panels. Her work involves advising clients on all aspects of patent litigation, from claim construction briefing and hearings to depositions, expert reports, and settlement negotiations. While her tracked case indicates defendant-side representation, Alston & Bird's IP Litigation Group handles patent infringement matters for both plaintiffs and defendants.

The firm's patent litigation practice also actively engages in post-grant review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), coordinating with its Patents Group on these matters.

Ms. Kim earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School and is admitted to practice in California.
