Nathaniel L. Dilger

Nathaniel L. Dilger is a Partner at One LLP, a California-based boutique firm specializing in intellectual property, entertainment, and complex commercial litigation. He focuses his practice on litigating patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation claims, representing clients primarily on the plaintiff side. Mr. Dilger has significant experience in high-stakes patent disputes, often acting as lead counsel. He was centrally involved in the ongoing FaceTec, Inc. v. Jumio Corporation and FaceTec, Inc. v. iProov LTD patent infringement lawsuits. In a significant win for FaceTec, the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) upheld the patentability of all four challenged claims across four foundational 3D Liveness patents targeted by Jumio in inter partes reviews, a decision Jumio has since appealed to the Federal Circuit. Earlier in his career, he secured a complete jury victory and full royalty damages for Polara Engineering in a patent infringement lawsuit concerning accessible pedestrian crosswalk systems, a verdict later affirmed by the Federal Circuit. He also successfully defended a client against infringement claims, resulting in the dismissal of the case and an award of over $5 million in fees and costs after proving the patentee fabricated evidence.

His practice includes extensive involvement in PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) proceedings. He has handled multiple inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, including defending the validity of a client's patent for a cigarette rolling machine. Furthermore, Mr. Dilger argued one of the first IPR decisions before the Federal Circuit, which resulted in the affirmance of his client's patentability.

Mr. Dilger is a registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice in California. He earned his law degree from Ohio State University College of Law and holds a degree in mechanical engineering.
