Meng Xi

Meng Xi is a highly experienced patent litigation attorney and a Partner at Susman Godfrey L.L.P., with a practice primarily focused on high-stakes patent infringement and commercial contract disputes in federal and state courts nationwide. Her technological expertise spans a diverse range, including microprocessors, wireless communications protocols, electronic options trading platforms, medical devices, and chemical composition/pharmaceutical formulations. Before joining Susman Godfrey, Ms. Xi served as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Sharon Prost at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She is admitted to practice in California and Texas, and before various federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Xi has a demonstrated track record of successfully representing both plaintiffs and defendants. While her tracked appearance includes a plaintiff-side role for Personalized Media Communications, LLC v. Netflix, Inc., she has also defended major clients. Her significant plaintiff-side engagements include representing Rockstar Consortium (a joint venture of Apple, Ericsson, Sony, and Blackberry) in a patent infringement suit against Google involving search advertising patents, which concluded with a $900 million sale of the patent portfolio. She also represented Sentius International, LLC against Microsoft in a suit concerning automated database technology, achieving a favorable settlement.

In the tracked case, Personalized Media Communications, LLC v. Netflix, Inc., Ms. Xi acted as Of Counsel for the plaintiff, asserting patents related to adaptive streaming capabilities and signal processing. This case, along with related litigation against Google, Akamai, Vizio, Samsung, and Funai, ultimately led to favorable settlements and licensing agreements for her client. On the defense side, she successfully represented SunPower Corporation in a complex contract dispute, securing multiple dispositive motion wins and a favorable settlement. Ms. Xi earned her J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law in May 2011. Prior to her legal career, she worked as a software developer in Silicon Valley, which underpins her deep technical understanding.
