Matthew L. Seror

Matthew L. Seror is a Partner at Buchalter, focusing his practice on intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, trade dress, and unfair competition matters. His experience spans various technology areas, including apparel, automotive accessories, recreational vehicle technology, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors, in addition to cybersecurity, internet, e-commerce, and social media law. He also provides strategic counseling on intellectual property asset protection, licensing, and brand enforcement.

In patent litigation, Mr. Seror primarily represents defendants. His tracked experience includes defending clients, such as ETN Capital LLC, in patent infringement disputes. For instance, he represented ETN Capital LLC in a dispute concerning wireless RV leveling system technology, which involved an appeal by FBA Operating Co. to the Federal Circuit. This appeal, after an initial procedural dismissal, was eventually remanded to the district court following a joint settlement in July 2025. The settlement involved ETN Capital withdrawing a motion for attorneys' fees, suggesting a favorable resolution for his client.

Mr. Seror is also active in post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He regularly litigates matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Furthermore, he represented ETN Capital LLC as the petitioner in an inter partes review (IPR2024-01445) challenging a patent related to vehicle leveling systems, demonstrating experience with PTAB proceedings in patent validity challenges.

Mr. Seror earned his J.D. from USC Gould School of Law in 2004 and a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Southern California in 2001. He is admitted to practice in California. He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, where he teaches Intellectual Property Licensing and Trademark law.
