Matthew C. Hurley

Matthew C. Hurley is a seasoned litigator and former Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.. His practice primarily focuses on representing life sciences and technology companies in complex business disputes, including those involving patent, trademark, and copyright law. He is particularly recognized for his extensive expertise in domestic and international arbitrations, handling disputes related to collaboration agreements, patent licenses, supplier agreements, and distribution contracts.

Hurley represents operating companies, demonstrating experience on both the plaintiff and defendant sides of litigation and arbitration. Notably, he secured a nine-figure arbitration award for a biotechnology company in a contract dispute with an international pharmaceutical company. He also obtained summary judgment for General Electric Company in a patent dispute concerning fluorescent light bulbs and achieved a defense verdict as lead trial counsel for Intelligent Bio-Systems, Inc., against a $100 million complaint involving next-generation sequencing machines.
