Leslie A. Demers

Leslie A. Demers is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she focuses on complex litigation and arbitration involving patents, trade secrets, copyright, and trademark disputes. Her practice spans a diverse range of technology areas, including artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, renewable energy, industrial machinery, semiconductors, and information technology.

While her tracked appearances include a lead counsel role for a defendant in Midwest Energy Emissions Corp. et al. v. CERT Operations II LLC et al., Ms. Demers’ practice encompasses both defense and plaintiff-side work. Her representative engagements include asserting and defending patent infringement claims, defending claims for an AI-driven biotech company, and asserting claims on behalf of an AI-driven data analytics company and a technology company specializing in innovative chillers for AI-ready data centers. She also secured a jury verdict for defendant Universal Alloy Corporation in a trade secret misappropriation case.

Ms. Demers is actively involved in discussions and publications concerning the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. She has co-chaired the Patent Law Institute, where she delivered opening remarks and presented on topics such as recent court decisions shaping patent law and valuing patents in litigation. She has also contributed insights on USPTO guidance regarding AI tools in patent applications and PTAB updates.

Ms. Demers earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2013, where she was a member of the Columbia Law Review, and her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan in 2010. She is admitted to practice in New York.
