Lance Wyatt

Lance Wyatt is a Principal at Fish & Richardson, P.C., specializing in patent litigation. His practice spans a diverse range of technology areas, including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, software and computer technologies, and oil and natural gas. The cases he has handled, such as those involving HyperQuery LLC, frequently concern software and computer technologies, specifically patents related to systems and methods for downloading applications via communication networks.

Wyatt primarily represents defendants in patent infringement actions. All his tracked appearances are on the defendant side, underscoring this preference. He has successfully defended clients, notably securing a jury verdict of non-infringement for Live Nation and Ticketmaster in a patent infringement case in the Western District of Texas, which averted a potential $112 million damages award.

His experience includes working on cases where patent claims by non-practicing entities were resolved early. For instance, in HyperQuery LLC v. BigCommerce Pty Ltd and HyperQuery LLC v. Wyatt earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2014, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the SMU Law Review. He also holds a B.S. magna cum laude in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University (2011). He is admitted to practice in Texas, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, among other federal courts.
