Kyle W. Kellar

Kyle W. Kellar is a patent litigation attorney with a practice focused on intellectual property defense and post-grant review proceedings. His technical expertise spans mechanical and electro-mechanical devices, medical devices, display panels, and battery technologies, as evidenced by his case involvement and firm profile.

Currently a Partner at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, Mr. Kellar primarily represents defendants in patent infringement actions. This is consistent with his tracked appearance on the defendant side in Therabody Inc. v. Hyperice IP Subco LLC, a dispute concerning percussive and LED therapy devices. He achieved a favorable outcome for a client in Meridian Rapid Defense Group v. Delta Scientific, where the patent owner dismissed infringement allegations and issued a covenant-not-to-sue.

Mr. Kellar is also active in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has successfully defended clients by defeating petitions for Inter Partes Review (IPR) prior to institution, notably in Sani-Tech West v. Meissner Filtration Products and Merchsource v. Hyper Ice. He also represented Samsung SDI in defending a patent during an IPR proceeding.

Mr. Kellar earned his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2013, holding a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University. He is admitted to practice in California, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Northern Districts of California.
