Kyle Curry

Kyle Curry is an associate at Desmarais LLP, focusing his practice on intellectual property and technology-related litigation. His experience encompasses technologies such as wearable and biomedical devices, internet technologies, and software. His work also includes technologies related to voice assistants, conversational AI, natural language processing, and telecommunications/networking.

Mr. Curry primarily represents defendants in patent infringement matters, as evidenced by his appearances on the defendant side in all tracked cases. Notably, he represents Apple Inc. in cases such as VB Assets, LLC v. Apple Inc. and Competitive Access Systems, Inc. v. Apple Inc. In VB Assets, LLC v. Apple Inc., the plaintiff, VB Assets, LLC, has asserted patents related to Siri virtual assistant technology. VB Assets, LLC, which owns intellectual property covering voice assistants and conversational AI, previously secured a $46.7 million jury verdict against Amazon for patent infringement, which was later reduced to over $40 million, with ongoing royalties established.

Additionally, Mr. Curry assists Desmarais LLP's post-grant group with Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, indicating experience in challenging or defending patent validity before the USPTO.

Mr. Curry earned his J.D. with honors from The University of Chicago Law School in 2021, where he was a Rubenstein Scholar. He holds a B.S. in Psychology, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2013). He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2022.
