Kristopher R. Davis

Kristopher R. Davis is a patent litigation partner at Russ August & Kabat, specializing in complex patent and trade secret disputes. His practice encompasses a wide array of technologies, including software applications, mobile devices, telecommunications, networking, graphics processors, computer memories, semiconductors, automotive control systems, and medical devices. While tracked appearances show him defending major technology companies like Google LLC and Apple Inc. against infringement claims, his broader practice includes significant plaintiff-side representation.

Mr. Davis has achieved notable success for plaintiffs, securing substantial jury verdicts. These include a $175 million verdict for Headwater Research against Verizon and a $279 million verdict for Headwater Research against Samsung in multi-patent cases. He also obtained jury trial verdicts of infringement and validity for EcoFactor against Google and ecobee in smart thermostat litigation, and secured favorable settlements for clients such as Resonant Systems, Inc. and Neodron in cases involving haptic feedback and touch screens. Earlier in his career, he represented Nvidia in multi-patent litigation against Samsung and Honda in an ITC case against Intellectual Ventures, securing favorable outcomes including jury verdicts of non-infringement and invalidity, and voluntary dismissals.

An experienced litigator, Mr. Davis is well-versed in all phases of litigation before federal district courts, the ITC, and the USPTO. He is also a registered patent attorney who actively represents clients in numerous post-grant proceedings, such as IPRs, before the USPTO. Additionally, he has experience in patent prosecution and advising clients on IP asset acquisitions.

Mr. Davis earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005, and his J.D., summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2008. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2019.
