Joshua S. Wyde

Joshua S. Wyde is a patent litigation attorney at Alavi & Anaipakos, where he serves as Of Counsel. His practice focuses on federal patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, as well as post-grant proceedings, including Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). An electrical engineer by background, Mr. Wyde leverages his software and hardware expertise to handle cases from pre-complaint investigation through jury verdict. His technical experience extends to diverse areas, including cloud-based multimedia delivery, mechanical devices, and frac fueling systems.

Mr. Wyde maintains a balanced practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property disputes. His tracked case history shows appearances on both the plaintiff and defendant sides in patent litigation. His firm, Alavi & Anaipakos, is known for handling high-stakes commercial and intellectual property litigation for a range of clients, from individuals to Fortune 100 companies, in various industries such as software, high-tech, and energy.

Among his notable engagements, Mr. Wyde has been involved in the complex "Stingray Group Inc." litigation. He has represented defendants in Dr. Edwin A. Hernandez et al. v. Stingray Group Inc. f/k/a Stingray Digital Group, Inc. et al., and acted as counsel for Stingray Group Inc. in a related case against Edwin A. Hernandez-Mondragon. In the PTAB context, his firm, Alavi & Anaipakos, represented Stingray Group Inc. and Stingray Music USA, Inc. as petitioners challenging Dr. Edwin Hernandez-Mondragon's cloud-based multimedia delivery patents in multiple IPR proceedings (IPR2025-00349, IPR2025-00350, IPR2025-00351). While the firm challenged these patents, a majority of Dr. Hernandez's challenged claims (45 out of 60) ultimately survived the PTAB's final written decisions in June 2026. Personally, Mr. Wyde has a strong track record of successfully defending patents in IPRs, including defeating institution for most challenges in one case for In-Depth Test LLC and securing a favorable settlement in Frac Shack Inc. v. Atlas Oil Co. after defeating an IPR petition.

Mr. Wyde is admitted to the State Bar of Texas (2007) and is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2007 and an MBA from the University of Houston in 2004. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and various federal district courts.
