Joshua H. Lee

Joshua H. Lee is a highly experienced patent litigator, currently a Partner at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, where he focuses on complex patent disputes across U.S. district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His practice spans diverse technology areas, including mobile gaming, wireless earpiece technology, embedded non-volatile memory, environmentally-protected LCD digital display technology, and web application delivery/browser-based website building platforms. In addition to litigation, Mr. Lee is a registered patent attorney with substantial patent prosecution experience and advises on pre-litigation matters such as patent portfolio assessment and license agreements.

Mr. Lee demonstrates a balanced practice, representing both patent owners and accused infringers. His plaintiff-side work includes serving as lead counsel for GREE, Inc. in its high-stakes patent battle against Supercell Oy, securing two significant jury verdicts in the Eastern District of Texas in 2020 and 2021, totaling over $100 million in damages with findings of willful infringement for patents related to mobile gaming. On the defense side, he has represented clients such as Motorola Mobility, achieving a jury verdict of non-infringement and invalidity, and Manufacturing Resources International, Inc. in an ITC investigation where the Administrative Law Judge found no Section 337 violation and asserted Samsung patents invalid and not infringed. He also appeared as "of counsel" for the defendant in EXPRESS MOBILE, INC. v. Squarespace, Inc.

Recognized for his litigation acumen, Mr. Lee has been named a Georgia "Rising Star" in Intellectual Property Litigation by Super Lawyers multiple years, including 2024, and an IP "Rising Star" by Managing Intellectual Property magazine in 2022, 2024, and 2025. His experience also encompasses significant involvement in PTAB proceedings, particularly as part of the comprehensive legal strategy in the GREE v. Supercell disputes.

Mr. Lee earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 2010 and was admitted to legal practice the same year. Notably, he was the National Champion in the 2010 AIPLA Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition, which focuses on patent law issues. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a process engineer in the textile industry.
